"Your real life is in the here and now. Once you figure out what kinds of experiences cause you to feel certain ways, you can change either the experiences, or when that's not possible, change your response to them."

— G. Alan Marlatt -

I work with adolescent and adult clients aged 16 years and up in a wide variety of areas including insomnia, anxiety, depression, stress, trauma (sexual trauma, combat trauma, etc), smoking, and many other issues. Additionally, I work with children with sleep issues (e.g., challenging bedtimes, frequent night wakings, and/or co-sleeping with parents). My clients find me to be warm, understanding, and caring. We work together to create achievable goals and take active steps to reach them.

I use therapy techniques that have been shown to be effective by clinical research. These techniques include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Motivational Interviewing (MI), mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and several others, tailoring my approach to the specific needs and preferences of each client. My counseling style is collaborative, semi-structured, and transparent. This means clients are part of the goal-setting process, forming each session agenda, and the problem-solving process. Once a treatment course is identified, each session typically involves working on a specific skill with homework practice. I also understand that therapy needs change and am flexible.
