Emily O'Connor

Welcome – my name is Emily, and I am a licensed mental health counselor, certified eating disorder specialist, and certified clinical trauma practitioner. While I work with a variety of age ranges and conditions, my areas of expertise include treatment of anxiety, body image concerns, disordered eating/eating disorders, and trauma. I have a special passion for working with young adults, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

My goal is to help you create meaningful change in your life to leads to lasting wellness and fulfillment. This looks like developing skills and insight that impact your life in an ongoing and positive way outside the counseling space.

My counseling approach integrates a balance of head and heart. This means drawing on evidenced based practices and modern science from a root of compassion and warmth. It means providing a flexible, safe environment to explore painful experiences and empowering my clients to integrate new skills to reduce negative impacts of the symptoms.

I like to integrate creativity in treatment planning to meet your individual needs as best as I can, utilizing natural resources in the mind and body for healing. I use a trauma informed, integrative approach to counseling - meaning I draw several different schools of thought depending on your individual needs. The most common approaches I utilize are Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I look forward to exploring all that makes up you, and how we can move towards wellness together.
